JB Schelton- DeTour Salon and Style, Owner
JB moved to Anderson in 1996 to open Garfield’s restaurant in the Mounds Mall as part of the management team and served for several years opening new restaurants across the South Mid-west as part of the national training team. JB's first daughter came into this world 1998 and changed her view on life and purpose!
Following graduation from cosmetology school, as a single mom, she began working at ClipZone in Anderson and 3 years later became part owner and one of the top earning stylists.
JB has helped train, educate and mentor new stylists into the beauty industry- giving them a firm foundation built on structure and systems. Giving birth to twin daughters in 2008 added a fun, challenging element to her life! She never planned on having children but God new what he was doing when he gave her these 3 beautiful girls! They have made her realize a higher purpose in life!
In 2009, she began working for Bosley Professional as an educator then promoted to Platform Artist educating stylists on hair loss and hair care. Then in 2013 she became a beauty contributor writing and contributing to articles for Todayshow.com. Seventeen.com, Modern Salon and various other websites and magazines.
In December 2016 a major, JB took an unexpected Detour in her career and decided to leave ClipZone after nearly 14 years of employment and 10 years of ownership. She knew there was something out there for her that brought a bigger challenge and the ability to use all of her education and 25 years of experience.
And now, her concept and dream has become a reality- Detour Salon and Style. Coming from her desire for independence and the vision of something new and different for Madison County Stylists- Detour is more than a salon- it’s a dream and a passion.
As a single mom who was homeless and on food stamps when she started beauty school to 15 years later having her own salon- JB knows she has a lot to share with women in distress. She know what it’s like to be alone, lonely, have low self-esteem, to be abused and in pain. She can empathize with every woman out there who has been down and out. She hope to make a difference on the Stripped Love team! JB lives with her husband of 12 years, Andrew Shelton who has supported her in all her endeavors personally, and professionally. Her best friend & biggest fan!
